Construction Contract Awarded for Segment 1a

Segment 1a of the Tucker Trail in Downtown Tucker.

Big Trail News! This week, Tucker City Council awarded the construction contract for the Model Trail Project (Segment 1a in the Tucker PATH Master Plan) to Hasbun Construction in the amount of $1,158,566,96. This segment utilizes Tucker’s historic alley network to connect Lavista Road and Main Street to the site of the future Tucker Town Green. The trail project will include lighting, landscaping (including native trees), decorative brickwork, bike racks and benches. Segment 1a was chosen as the City’s model trail project because of its central location and connection to multiple planned trail segments, including the Tucker-Northlake Trail (Segments 1b, 1c and part of 6a), which recently received federal funding for engineering and right-of-way acquisition. Since the project came in under budget (the budgeted amount was $1.6 million), the City of Tucker is able to move forward simultaneously with other trail projects. The planned trail along Hugh Howell Road between Smoke Rise Elementary School and Marthasville Court (Segment 4c) recently received GDOT approval, and the City of Tucker will be releasing a Request for Proposals for construction of this trail in a couple of weeks! Stay tuned for more great trail updates coming soon!
